Where will my student ikamet card be delivered after approval?
General information, not legal advice. For high-stakes decisions, confirm with the official institution in the next-step below, or consult a qualified Turkish lawyer.
Pending expert review. This fact is sourced but has not yet been reviewed by an independent legal expert. Treat as a starting point.
Once Göç İdaresi approves your application, the İkamet İzni Belgesi is printed by Göç İdaresi Başkanlığı, then shipped via PTT (Turkish Post) cargo to the address on your application. An SMS notification goes to the phone number on file when the card is dispatched.
Watch-outs
- Use a stable, reachable address. Dorm or flat changes mid-application can result in cards going to the wrong place — update your address with Göç İdaresi within 20 working days if it shifts. See permits-18.
- The phone number on file is your only ship notification. If the number is wrong, you won't know the card is coming.
- Shared addresses need a plan. Dorms, hostels, shared flats — give building staff or your roommate explicit instructions for accepting cargo on your behalf. PTT returns to sender after a few attempts.
- Lost cargo means lost card. That's a half-fee replacement plus a processing delay measured in weeks — see money-03.
Next step
After submitting the application, confirm PTT delivers to your registered address. If your building has restricted delivery hours, set up a backup pickup option — the closest PTT şube can hold the cargo if you arrange it.
