YTB rewards academic excellence through the Merit Scholarship Program (Başarı Bursu). Scholars who maintain exceptional GPAs at university can receive a monthly stipend double the regular amount. Existing YTB holders with outstanding academic performance compared to peers may also receive an additional monthly bonus of 1,000–2,000 TL.
The design intent is to support top performers in focusing on research and academics without seeking outside employment.
Watch-outs
- Merit status is re-evaluated each term or year. A GPA drop loses the bonus multiplier — you return to the base stipend.
- The TÖMER year is excluded. The bonus applies to academic degree years, not the preliminary Turkish prep year.

Once enrolled, target the top percentile of your class. The merit upgrade is automatic for those who qualify — there's no separate application, but there's also no benefit-of-the-doubt for borderline cases.
