What documents must I upload for the Türkiye Bursları application?
General information, not legal advice. For high-stakes decisions, confirm with the official institution in the next-step below, or consult a qualified Turkish lawyer.
Pending expert review. This fact is sourced but has not yet been reviewed by an independent legal expert. Treat as a starting point.
Source age note. This fact draws on founder videos dating back to December 2020. YTB updates its rules each application cycle. Cross-check the live announcement on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr before acting on specific numbers (dates, stipends, cut-offs).
A complete application needs the following documents, all scanned clearly and uploaded directly to the TBBS portal:
1. A valid national identity document or passport. 2. A recent photograph (taken within the last 12 months, portrait style). 3. National exam results, if applicable in your country. 4. Diploma or temporary graduation certificate. If you haven't graduated yet, mark your status as "continuous" and provide a student certificate with expected graduation date. 5. Official academic transcripts. 6. International exam results (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.) — only if required by the specific university or programme you choose. 7. Language test results (TOEFL, IELTS, DELF) — only if applying to English or foreign-language-taught programmes. 8. A research proposal and a written example of past research — PhD applicants only.
Watch-outs
- Illegible documents auto-reject. Blurry or cropped phone-camera scans are the most common rejection reason. Use a real scanner or a proper scanning app, not the camera roll.
- Wrong upload section disqualifies the document. Click each uploaded file after saving to confirm it's the right file in the right slot. Once shortlisting starts, a pet photo where the passport should be can't be fixed.
- Translations during initial application are not strictly required but are recommended if your documents are in a less common language. If you're called for interview, bring originals — those are required regardless.
Next step
Gather all official documents, scan them properly (not phone-camera shots), organise them in a single folder on your computer, and name each file clearly before you start the online application. Don't open the portal until your folder is complete — the time pressure inside TBBS is real.
