What is the minimum GPA required to apply for the Türkiye Bursları scholarship?
General information, not legal advice. For high-stakes decisions, confirm with the official institution in the next-step below, or consult a qualified Turkish lawyer.
Pending expert review. This fact is sourced but has not yet been reviewed by an independent legal expert. Treat as a starting point.
Source age note. This fact draws on founder videos dating back to January 2021. YTB updates its rules each application cycle. Cross-check the live announcement on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr before acting on specific numbers (dates, stipends, cut-offs).
Türkiye Bursları has hard minimum GPA thresholds set by level of study and field. Fall below the threshold and the online TBBS system filters you out at preliminary assessment — your application doesn't reach a reviewer.
The minimums:
- Undergraduate programmes: 70% or equivalent GPA.
- Master's and PhD programmes: 75% or equivalent GPA.
- Health Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy): 90%.
Watch-outs
- The 90% medicine trap. 90% is the minimum to apply for medicine — it doesn't make you competitive. Successful medical applicants usually sit at 95–99% with strong extracurriculars. Treat 90% as the door, not the seat.
- Conversion errors disqualify. Enter your grading scale correctly (4.0 scale, 100-point scale, lettered, percentile). The system standardises automatically, but a wrong scale entry produces a wrong standardised value and you fail the cut you should have passed.
- No exceptions for "slightly below." If your GPA is 63% for a master's, you're ineligible — not "almost eligible." Don't spend a cycle hoping. Focus instead on alternative funding or university-specific scholarships, or improve the GPA via a top-up programme.
Next step
Calculate your cumulative GPA on the 100-point scale before starting the application. If you meet the threshold, proceed to gather official transcripts and diploma. If you don't, the next move is alternative funding, not a YTB application that will be auto-rejected.
