How often must an indefinite work permit card be renewed?

General information, not legal advice. For high-stakes decisions, confirm with the official institution in the next-step below, or consult a qualified Turkish lawyer.

Pending expert review. This fact is sourced but has not yet been reviewed by an independent legal expert. Treat as a starting point.

The Süresiz Çalışma İzni itself is indefinite — but the physical card is valid for 5 years. The card has to be renewed within the 6 months before the 5-year expiry, and in any case before the expiry date passes.

The underlying permit status (indefinite) doesn't lapse when the card does. Only the document needs reissue. But while the card is expired, you can't prove your status to police, employers, or banks.

Watch-outs
  • Missing the card-renewal window invalidates the physical document even though your underlying status is still indefinite. You're legally fine and operationally stuck until the reissue clears.
  • A new card costs the same as a new indefinite permit application — 125,802.20 TL in 2026. See money-01 for the fee table.
  • The 6-month window is similar to (but not the same as) the ikamet 60-day renewal window. Different permits, different rules — don't reach for muscle memory.
Next step

Set a calendar reminder 6 months before your card's expiry date. Apply via the standard CSGB channel as soon as the renewal window opens — the early-applicant queue moves faster than the last-week queue.
